Il teorema del pappagallo
I Max, a deaf boy whose dysfunctional family live with Mr Ruche, finds a voluble parrot in a local fleamarket. He turns out to be a bird who discusses maths with anyone who will listen. So when Mr Ruche learns of his friend’s mysterious death in the rainforests of Brazil he decides that with the parrot’s help he will use these books to teach Max and his twin brother and sister the mysteries and wonders of numbers and shapes. But soon it becomes clear that Mr Ruche has inherited the library for reasons other than pure enlightenment, and before he knows it the household are caught up in a race to prevent the vital theorems falling into the teorems hands.

Buona matematica a tutti!
Pappahallo sempr O lo ami, o lo odi.
Dec 30, Marie Delos Reyes rated it it was ok. I’ve started reading this last year, and finally, I’m done with it. Not that the book is not good at all, I was just “too busy” with school stuff.
Well, it really was a very informative experience reading this one. I enjoyed reading the history of maths; the author succeeded in making a rather boring topic into such a humorous, interesting piece that can easily be understood. I wish I had edl this earlier, probably when I was still in high school. I pa;pagallo be able to appreciate more our math sub I’ve started reading this last year, and finally, I’m done with it.
I might be able to appreciate more our math subjects if I had read this prior to taking those subjects. But, anyway, yeah, the book’s very educational. I give only two stars to this book because, though there’s no doubt that the pieces of pappavallo information was laid out very well, I was really disappointed with how the story turned out.
When I started reading this, I became excited when the gang Mr.

Ruche and Perette’s family was faced with a mystery. I thought, ‘hey, this will be exciting’, what with all the detective stuff they’ll gonna do and such. But turns out it will just be a very long review of the history of mathematics.
The detective stuff, well, only occupied just a veeeery small fraction of the whole story. I even got more disappointed with the ending. I can’t teorem the exact words to tell how I felt with the ending of the story but. I really didn’t like it.

Jan 17, Cosmas Ioannidis-lemonidis rated it it was amazing Shelves: The best book to make anyone love mathematics!

I have a million different feelings about this book, so I’m just going to dump them here, all sort of stream of consciousness hopefully my friends will forgive me. I wonder if I could turn my lecture notes into an international best seller? teoreema

It appears from the liner notes that Guedj actually offers a class on that. OK, I’ll stop now. Oct 24, murkuo rated it it was paopagallo. Apr 12, Jean Gobin rated it really liked it. This is not the first story I read teoream revolves around mathematics, but this is surely the first one that goes that deep into the history.
The style is nice and easy to read, the presentation concise and efficient, it is a really pleasure to read. A star was removed for the ending. I think the author could have done a better job in the conclusion. Overall, pleasant book to read, a good introduction to the vast history of math for people who don’t know teormea yet.

pappagaplo Mar 12, Roberta rated it it was amazing. This book should be a compulsory read for every child approaching mathematics for the first time. I wish I had read this when I was 11, my life would feorema been different.

The book also makes mention of the proof of the last Fermat theorem by Andrew Wiles. A valuable, fun and interesting novel for those with some interes in mathematics This is a hard book to review. Ostensibly a history of mathematics inserted in a mild pappagalli, it is hard to pigeonhole. The mathematics discussions fel authentic enough I.
I couldn’t follow most of them. The main characters are almost comic bookish.
